Ten Jallenges.

#002

It was meant to be a day of much sun, cold with a wind but sunny nevertheless. That is what the weather forecast had predicted, though like each weekend it is the complete opposite! I woke up early and got ready, I couldn’t wait to be out this weekend for some reason. The last time I was out had left a bitter taste in my mouth [1] but for today I had my passion back for movement. Well, that was until some unexplained, unwanted explosive diarrhoea had come on and left me glued to the fecal splattered toilet seat. Just what I needed before going out… James was feeling a bit injured but was still going to head out. Even though I was running late, had emptied my bowels, I still had stomach ache and wondered if to risk it. I started to feel a bit better and then got a lift to town, which shaved off time waiting for public transport. Everyone was still at Plaza warming up, but it was cold, much colder than I expected it to be.

Micheal was out again this weekend, the same fro-friendly chap that had come along to the blue themed [2] training. I had assumed that he was from Derby, seeing as he used to be out at the same time they were. Yet, he wasn’t from there at all and instead from Burton Upon Trent. He was wearing some Feiyue shoes [3] too. What a brave, brave guy for wearing those while out training. Even though, I went through a phase of liking them for training myself, many years ago and they always seemed to pull the sole of my feet. This led to us talking about shoes and what people prefer to wear while out training. I tried to get warm by moving around and doing some skipping. Phil arrived, he seemed to be in a rather jolly mood for training today, it reminded me of the times gone by when we would always be training together. Minus the silliness and banter, as I’d like to think we have somewhat matured these days.

James arrived, as did others, slowly but surely. I didn’t mind being at Plaza today (I know right?) for once and I was okay with this. Practising kong precisions with Phil, James and the others. Trying to sort out my own technique with them, as they were currently not feeling as good as they should. James was getting them, but he wanted to have them consistently each weekend as well as going through the various ways people did them. I think we confused him a bit when Phil would do them one way, then the rest of us had different ways to generate power and how we did them as a whole. You had two parts to do them on the medium sized wall, each between the shrubs. The left side you had to run along uneven ground, while the right side was close to the diagonal wall overhead. Which you didn’t hit your head on, but it put most off doing it there due to thinking that, that would happen. It was interesting to do on them both sides, trying to get more comfortable with the movement again.

We ended up moving over to IBM. The slabs were still dotted around the area from a previous RAW video (seen below). We used the existing ones for a small run, with everyone giving it a go. Then we created variations to it, like Phil doing a tic tac off the wall and people skipping slabs and spinning while sitting on the wall were all creativity of the run. There were so many possibilities, most found it hard to turn quickly on one slab due to the sharp direction change. It was something which pulled the ol’ legs and groin. It was funnier as the more we tried to be precise, the worse we became. Oh and Pete couldn’t stride them, what the hell? James was busy doing standing cats to the wall, where he has previously done it as a running precision. Perhaps he was preparing for the Audo same level catleap? Continue reading ‘Ten Jallenges.’

25th January 2015.

David – Precision.

I was, as always on a Sunday, late waking up for the afternoon training session. Unsure whether to be out due to the weather predictions of rain. I asked Chris via PM if he would be out today, after having an interest in coming out yesterday. His reply was somewhat comical – ‘FML (fuck my life). I think, that any exercise today would be asking for injury. I’ll come to the park one weekend when I’m slightly more adapted to this Parkour stuff…’ Needless to say this had me rolling in laughter, and feeling bad for him at the same time, since he was out yesterday at the community training session. I left him with his muscular pains and with that I got ready and headed over to the park to see who was out this afternoon. It was quite a cold day too, with a chilling wind, not even my scarf was saving me from the gale. I arrived to find Mat, Luisa and David already there, jumping around and keeping warm. At least the park wasn’t loitered by kids due to the weather today!

I wasn’t feeling like training in all honesty, I had a pulled right latissimus (lat) God knows how that had happened. My legs were still feeling sore and tired from training earlier in the week, it was cold, windy and my current mood wasn’t helping motivate me. Though, on warming up with some skipping and general Parkour movement I began to feel a bit better in myself and wanting to train. My muscle ups felt stronger today oddly enough, but I didn’t want to temp fate with the pulled lat by doing lots of upper body work. Best to rest and recover, rather than antagonize. I filmed a couple of video clips to see how movements looked, as well as taking a few photos. Though I didn’t get as many as I would normally like and you can tell by the quality of them, at just how rushed they were. Mat and Luisa were only out for a bit this afternoon and so once they had left it was just David and myself left training at the park. The park felt deserted, I doubted I would be out much longer due to how cold it was.

David – Cat 180 Precision.

I drilled the main precision jump a few times, managing to do a precision box down to the wall, which was feeling easier the more I did it. David wanted to practise the running stride down to the wall, which felt and looked horrible and so I didn’t dare try that as of yet. He also did some box jumps (seen below) to kong over the wall at the end. I had a look at the main upward precision too, it always seemed so far away and yet I said I would give it a go, not really thinking too much about it as my jumping ability is rubbish currently. To my surprise I ended up getting to it, craning it with one foot on top of the wall and one just below it, bouncing off. David was quite shocked and then contemplated trying it too. Zade 2011.

I have been putting footage on my Adobe Premiere Pro time line for the past year, I had no real intention of making a yearly video this year. That was not until around July of this year when I decided maybe I should start planning for one due to collecting various clips from the spring but I didn’t really want to use them. I decided to look at them again at a later date and also do some re-takes in the summer so I was happy with them. From then on I started making a few notes of things I wanted to do and went about getting them all done and filmed.

I always stray away from doing Freerunning or flips in general because for one they bore me, and secondly I did enough of them when I first learnt how to back in 2006. That doesn’t mean I do not practice them any more. From time to time while I am out training I will do a few but I class this as a secondary thing to my Parkour training.

The biggest difference in this video you will notice is throughout the video my hair grows from shaggy medium length to a top knot and tied up in two places.

At one stage nearer the end of my initial deadline I had set for myself November 10th to celebrate one year since I made my 2010 video and release this video. I really felt like I should just pack it all in and leave it well alone. I wasn’t happy with the things I had in the video and generally really started to hate it and felt they was far too much of the same movements which really impacts how I felt about the whole video project.

Due to this, I decided to leave it for a while and forgot about it while I started other various video projects and it was only in December did I decide to get on with the video again and get some other movements in there to spice things up a bit and make it a better feeling video in all.

A month odd later than planned and I have released the video. I hope people will like it as much as they did with my 2010 one which is currently over 3,000+ views after only being advertised on my WordPress and YouTube channel and nothing else I feel its done rather well.

As of yet I have no plans for a video next year, I have a rather big tick list for 2012 which is ebbing ever closer and so if and when I get some of those done I guess they would be used for a video.

Another milestone.

My video ‘Zade 2010’ has now reached the 2000+ stage. I’m very please to see that it still gets views by the public and has reached yet another milestone after being up for six month mark. :D
